Natural Facts the Bible Gives About Heaven ….  Series – Heaven Real or Myth

The time has come to review some miscellaneous facts about heaven.  The next few facts are not particularly connected but each tells us some more about heaven.  Each helps us to see heaven as a much more real and tangible place.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  – Gen. 1:1

God Himself created heaven before He created any other thing.  Before there was anything else, there was God.  God was not residing in heaven God was creating heaven.  When Jesus talked in the New Testament of going to prepare a place for us, this speaks to a specific place for you and me as individuals.  The Creator had, already created heaven itself.

And has stretched out the heavens at His discretion. –  Jer. 10:12

Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out,  – Is. 42:5

When the Creator decided heaven would be created He also decided how it would be laid out.  The size and dimensions of heaven are formed based upon His preference, plan, and purpose.  Nothing about the creation process has ever been arbitrary and the same holds true for the manner in which the heavens are stretched out above us.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. – 2 Pet. 3:10

And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain; – Heb. 1:10, 11

There will come a time when in God’s Sovereignty the heavens will ease to be.  They shall pass away as they are now known.  No doubt to be replaced by what could only be known as perfection.  Only God Himself can understand why this is a necessary part of His plan and man would do well to trust that the Creator knows how best to tend to the creation.

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;  And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind. – Is. 65:17

Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. – 2 Pet. 3:13

Once again, we will see the God of Creation at work creating a new heaven.  One that embodies righteousness; hence, my earlier comment about it being perfection.  The new heaven will so far overshadow the former one that the previous heaven will no longer even be remembered.  When you look up the Greek word for “new”, it denotes a freshness that the new heaven will have.  Freshness, how grand!
