Heaven Real or Myth [as an actual place]  – Introduction

Heaven the eternal home of the faithful, the place of everlasting bliss, is it real?  There are many who do not even believe such a place exists.  What do we know about this wonderful place?  What does the Bible say about heaven and our connection to heaven?  Today and over the next several weeks, we will examine just that and glory in the place called, “heaven.”

“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.  – Matthew 18:10 Jesus Speaking

First off, if it does not exist why would Jesus have been talking about the little children having angels in heaven which are always watching them. This is most likely where we come up with the idea of guardian angels.

For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; – Hebrews 9:24

For that matter, Christ Himself is currently in heaven.  He went their after His resurrection and now is appearing before God on our behalf.  I honestly believe that one day when we reach heaven we will stand before God the Father awaiting judgment.  During this process, Jesus Himself will step up and appear on our behalf, before the Father, informing Him of our acceptance of Him, meaning Christ, as our Lord and Savior.  At which time judgment, in the eternal sense, will be adverted.

And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive. – 1 Kings 8:30

Scripture clearly tells us God dwells in heaven.  The heaven that God the Father and Christ the Son dwell in is defined in the Hebrew and Greek languages as follows, respectively.

Hebrew = 8064.  shaÆmeh, shaw-meh’; from an unused root meaning to be lofty; the sky (as aloft; the dual perhaps alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve):— air, × astrologer, heaven (-s).

Greek = 3772. oujranov” oáuranoás, oo-ran-os´; (through the idea of elevation); the sky; by extension heaven (as the abode of God); by implication. happiness, power, eternity; spec. the Gospel (Christianity):— air, heaven ([-ly]), sky.

Heaven is God’s actual abode, meaning His home, residence, habitat, dwelling, quarters, domicile, address, etc.  It is very much a place!  Heaven is  a place, which God dwells in, as surely as you dwell within your home.

Seven is considered to be a perfect number.  Therefore, over a seven-week period we will look at seven more aspects of heaven.  Which will include; Believer’s current attitude toward heaven, things lacking in heaven, some positive characteristics of heaven, what is involved with entrance into / for heaven, how heaven is described, some facts regarding heaven and its purpose.
