Hope Found in the Heavens

Hope, the very expectation of what is too come. We all need hope or else we die. Slowly, we begin the process of little by little deteriorating into nothingness. We can die in stages – – – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and then ultimately physically. This is a process which ought not take place; a process which hope can halt.  Let us roam through the Scriptures and take a look at “hope” from it’s different views.

Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. – Romans 4:18

As was the case with Abraham, the father of many nations, we must at times chose to have hope when there seems no logical reason for doing so. There are eras when we, along with  things which God reveals to us about His plans for us, must weather the season of drought. Yet, hope keeps us from withering in the scalding heat. This is where faith spawns hope and breathes life into the our spiritual side.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, – 1 Peter 1:3,4

in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,  – Titus 1:2

We have a lifetime of hope set before us once we know the Christ, Jesus, as our Lord and Savior.  His resurrection and ascension back to heaven gives us the hope of what will be waiting there for us, once we get there.  We show our gratitude toward God for His great mercy shown us, through sending Jesus to die for us, by exhibiting hope. We have the purity of heaven to look forward too for eternity.  Now that brings hope!

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, – Hebrews 6:19

1Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4and perseverance, character; and character, hope.  – Romans 5:1-5

When everything else fails our hope in Christ locks down the storm tossed soul.  I once had a friend tell me the following true story.  She was having problems at home in her marriage, her adopted children were all having serve mental and emotional troubles, she could not seems to get organized or get her life together, she was an emotional wreck, her husband was extremely angry – – – then…  On her way one day to a Bible Study, I taught, another car hit her van; the accident was bad and totaled the van.  She was physical fine but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually at her end.  She called from the wrecked vehicle for our Pastor to come to her side, which he did.  Realizing how serious the accident had been she told him, “I really thought I could have been killed.  On top of everything else, this happens and I could have died.”  Our Pastors reply, “Is that all they could have done to you, kill you?  Just think the worst that could happen to you is that you would go to be with Jesus.”  She told me at that moment everything that was happening to her came into perspective. Pastor made us both realize that hope never ends, not matter what is happening.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. – Romans 8:25

Let us keep in mind that hope breads patience and patience breads hope.  The two need one another to survive and thrive in life; both of which aide us in our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical lives.

if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. – Colossians 1:23

“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. – Psalm 39:7

Our faith in God, in the gospel, and in the things of God; brings to us stability in life.  We know and trust in God’s faithfulness to us.  Knowing this faithfulness is ours as His children, can only bring hope to our daily lives.  That hope sends ripples through our lives, which produce stability.

God’s Written Word is a regular source through which our hope can be renewed and revived!
