Trust the Trustworthy One Part 2 of 3

The next three weeks the writings will be a simple succession of bullet outline statements followed by the Scriptures to back the statements up. Each statement will be in reference to the issue of trust. This will provide us, at the end of the three weeks, an in-depth look at the issue of trust “God style.”

We can expect to have joy in our lives.

Ps. 5:11 = But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.

Deliverance will come to us when it is needed.

Ps. 22:4, 5 = Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

Trusting in God provides a type of rest which is unmatched.

Ps. 37:7 = Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Triumph will be ours at just the right moment.

Ps. 25:2, 3 = O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

God’s goodness will always be present with us.

Ps. 31:19 = Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You In the presence of the sons of men!

God will flow with mercy for us.

Ps. 32:10 = Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.

Provision of those things in which we have need is assured.

Ps. 37:3, 5 = Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Guidance in every situation is ours.

Prov. 3:5, 6 = Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Trust in God brings contentment and confidence; along with a sense of assurance.

Hab. 3:17–19 = Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls—18Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.19The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.
